Funds

Gazi Husrev-bey Library currently holds about 100.000 library items (manuscripts, printed books, magazines and various documents) in Arabic, Turkish, Persian, Bosnian and some other European languages. More than 10,500 library units are manuscript codices with approximately 20,000 works in Islamic sciences, oriental languages, fine literature, philosophy, logic, history, medicine, veterinary science, mathematics, astronomy and other sciences.

Reading rooms

The reading room is divided according to the purpose of its use. The student reading room provides an environment for learning, while the research room enables the study of old archive documents and manuscripts in digitized form.

In addition to the benefits of a study space and free wireless internet signal, each seat has an electrical outlet enabling students to use laptops for longer periods of time.

Research reading room

It is intended for anyone who wants to use the manuscript and archive material of the Library in their research work. This type of documentation is available in digitalized form and can be read only on computers in the reading room.

Museum

Numerous contents of the Library are complemented with a permanent exhibition of artefacts that provide the visitors with an insight into the way of life, work, religious practice, customs and folklore of Bosniaks who lived in BiH.

We recommend group visits to the Museum to be booked in advance so that the Library may provide a guided tour of the Museum.

Congress hall and conference rooms

The new building of the Gazi Husrev-bey Library offers the most modern multimedia spaces suitable for conferences, promotions, meetings, seminars and all kinds of academic, scientific, business and other gatherings. There are four halls, which, in addition to technical support, also include services of cafeteria. Additional advantage of usage of these rooms is that they are in the new building of Library located in the heart of Baščaršija.

Congress Hall

Multifunctional hall with 220 seats, simultaneous translation cabins, modern technical equipment, space for the media and other high standard advantages.
